From the chapter before (PIL Pedia-007) we have an understanding what Yoga is, and how to start with it. Now we want to speak about Meditation, Yoga and Meditation are closely tied. Each focuses on unity among the body, mind, spirit, and emotions through the rhythm of the breath. Both also focus on being present in the moment and letting go of worries about the past or the future. In other ways we can say Meditation is a part of Yoga.
Today we live a fast-paced life with so many tasks, responsibilities, stress and unexplained fears. Physical health is different from Mental health. Maybe we physically look strong, but we may experience mental or emotional pain. Our mood may be low and we might lose confidence in our ability to cope with life’s challenges. To achieve a fully healthy lifestyle we should be good physically and mentally.
Pairing meditation and yoga can deliver the physical and mental benefits of both practices; they are as follows:
- Improves strength, balance and flexibility
- More energy and brighter moods.
- Better emotional health (more stable emotions, better stress management).
- Improvement in brain function (including memory, concentration, and mental clarity).
- Make you relax to better sleep quality.
Yoga and Meditation can bring amazing benefits to your life. The two are inseparably connected, with the physical movement of yoga feeding into the mindful focus of meditation, and vice versa. Start with only ten minutes a day and you’ll love the difference.
